Opting or refusing euthanasia is a decision that some Americans have to make. Euthanasia is considered to be immoral and just another form of murder, yet euthanasia can be the only means for someone to end intolerable pain, debilitation, and unfathomable suffering due to a terminal illness, or similar medical problems. Our proposed solution should be to allow the option for an individual to be euthanized, with the written or spoken consent of the individual, and, if the individual is not able to consent, then euthanasia should be granted or denied by a close relative or friend. If euthanasia is available for citizens of this country, then people living with terminal illnesses can have a chance to end their suffering and die with dignity.

Annotated Bibliography Alvarez, Oscar. Personal interview. Feb 2011. This interview resulted in arguing for euthanasia, with aspects of religion included. Because few of the other interviews went into detail about why euthanasia is wrong, because of certain values, the fact that religion was mentioned could be not only something to try to rebuttal, but also something to use as a reason to why euthanasia should be legal. Associated Press. “’Kevorkian Opens Clinic: Attends 24th Death.’” articles.latimes.com. LA Times, 27 June 1995. Web. 2 Mar. 2011. <http://articles.latimes.com/1995-06-27/news/mn-17734_1_jack-kevorkian>. This is a valid source of information because the LA Times is a well-known, factual newspaper, often read by many citizens of this country. Although this article is a bit dated, it is still full of good information because the roots of euthanasia should be just as important as the now. Borromeo, Ken, and Christine Borromeo. Personal interview. Feb. 2011. Interviewing parents is considered to be a reliable source, not necessarily of information, but of opinion. Parents have lived long enough to have a good opinion, whether for or against an issue. They are knowledgeable enough to support what they say, and personal beliefs influence their opinion just as much as logic, reasoning, and facts. Euthanasia. “Euthanasia Pros and Cons.” euthanasia.com. N.p., 2011. Web. 28 Feb. 2011. <http://euthanasia.com/proscons.html>. Statistics and such comes from this public website, therefore information is reliable since information is not noted to be falsified. Certain arguments for and against euthanasia are readily available, and so is information on where to go for more extensive information, and that is why this is a valid source. Garcia, Gregory. Personal interview. 20 Feb. 2011. I interviewed my older brother, Gregory Garcia. I know that he has strong opinions about euthanasia. In fact, when he was a junior in high school, he wrote his Junior Research Paper on the topic. He knows both the pros and cons on euthanasia, and he has facts and statistics that can easily back up what he says. Also, he is younger than the other person who I interviewed (Mr. Henry Lau). By interviewing my elderly neighbor, Mr. Henry Lau, and my older brother, Greg, I can hear opinions on euthanasia from people who are from different generations. Gay, Kathlyn. “’Euthanasia and the Right to Die: Outlook.’” ABC-CLIO. Issues: Understanding Controversy and Society, 2011. Web. 2 Mar. 2011. ABC-CLIO is a reliable source of information because it is a database. Unlike websites, such as Wikipedia, ABC-CLIO is trusty enough to be on this school’s approved database list. Because the school only lets students get information from databases, while in school, this information, from a database, is trusty. Gonzalez, Evelia. Personal interview. Feb 2011. Most viewpoints from the interviews conducted have supported euthanasia. However, this person is against it. It is important to see both sides of an issue, and having someone actually argue against euthanasia, when all other interviewees have been fairly adamant about supporting it, is good for us. This way, we can use the opposition's argument for a great rebuttal. Lau, Henry. Personal interview. 20 Feb. 2011. I interviewed my neighbor, Mr. Henry Lau. He is an elderly man who probably has a strong opinion on euthanasia, since he is wise beyond his years. Because he is knowledgeable, and because he is very opinionated, Mr. Lau is a good person to interview for finding an opinion on a certain issue, like, in this case, euthanasia. Simon, Rita J. “Euthanasia and the Right to Die.” ABC-CLIO. Issues: Understanding Controversy and Society, 2011. Web. 2 Mar. 2011. As stated previously, databases are reliable sources of information, therefore the information attained from this article is valid.
